A busy week: fiber, GYFYD
I haven’t written much lately, partly because I have been very busy with some exciting new initiatives at work, and partly because I’ve been lazy.

I just learned that Whitney Balliet, the jazz critic best known for his work in The New Yorker, died on Feb. 1 at the age of 80. Next to Gary Giddins, he was my favorite jazz critic. Apparently, he was shoved aside by the new owners of the magazine in 1987 and eventually faded from [...]
IE7 - better, but still lags FF
We just started installing Internet Explorer 7 (IE7) on our staff computers that can run it (yes, we still run W2K SP4 in places.)Â It is definitely better than IE6, but I find myself using it only when I have to. Even then, I usually fire up IE Tab.

Bill Hudgins, a co-worker and my technology sounding board, alerted me to a terrfic new Firefox extension called Paragrasp. It allows you to highlight paragraphs on a page to ease reading. If you read alot of blogs, this thing is a wonderful addition to your FF browser.
