I’m not alone (re: John Fay)
JD Arney over at Reds Reporter is in agreement with me re: the Enquirer’s John Fay.
This is one of our 4-5 stories a week on the Reds? John Fay spent yesterday calling Barry Axelrod to find out about Rich Aurilia? Is there really nothing better to do? I’d rather see a profile on Chad Moeller [...]Tower Records closing. Are CDs dying?
“Tower Records is closing.” My boss announced this to me today. I think I’d seen it but hadn’t paid much attention to the news. I don’t purchase CDs very often anymore, and the ones I do buy (or borrow), I rip to play on my computer or mp3 player. “Should we be looking at alternatives?” [...]
Pistacia vera L.
Pistachios are my favorite nuts. No two exactly the same to me. Some so wonderfully tart, others moldy, some dark and bitter, others almost sweet. What has me excited is that, apparently, what from I’ve read, even though I find it unimaginable…a better pistachio exists than what is available in the United States! The [...]
Volvo C30
I drive a 2004 Ford Focus ZX5 hatchback. One of the things I value highly in a car is visibility. When driving, I really need to be able to see well, see what is going on behind me. Many modern cars have these wedge-shaped micro-windows in the rear. To me, it represents a safety hazard. [...]

Library Journal - foe to taxpayers?
I work at a public library. I have a Masters Degree in Library Science (Univ. of KY, 1991) , and worked for several years as a Reference Librarian before moving into the IT side of things. I also supervise our library’s “technical services department”, the department that orders, receives, processes and catalogs most of what [...]
Laying down the Law on the Reds
Reds-hating Keith Law has weighed in on the recent Reds moves. Predictable:
“Mike Stanton reportedly has agreed to a two-year deal to pitch in Cincinnati. It’s interesting to see the Reds spending what cash they have on spare parts like a left-handed reliever and a backup shortstop (Alex Gonzalez, who can field but can’t hit) [...]WE ARE MARSHALL review
We Are Marshall (David Walsh movie review from the H-D). The review has “spoliers”, so don’t read it if you aren’t familiar with the story. I really hope it does well at the box-office and generates buzz, money and respect, for MU, Huntington and WV.
Stanton and deliver
Krivsky is as frenetic as his predecessor JimBowLeatherPants. Our Reds have inked 39 yr old lefty Mike Stanton to a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd. I like him quite a bit, and this good news. My only real concern is his age. No details on the dollars involved.
This likely means that [...]Disappointment…then relief…then uncertainty (a new SS)
“The Reds picked up Alex Gonzales,” I heard on the radio tonight.
I want to like Wayne Krivsky. I want him to make us strong again in a Howsam-esque way, or at least bring some of that Twins magic to Cincinnati. But I was cussing him when I heard this. I interpreted Alex Gonzales to mean [...]
